Tirana, October 6 NOA - The Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Ambassador Eugen Wollfarth, held his first meeting today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edmond Haxhinasto.
Ambassador Wollfarth assured Minister Haxhinasto of a continuation of the excellent close co-operation between the Ministry and the Presence, stressing that, under his leadership, the OSCE Presence would continue to focus on implementing large scale outcome-oriented projects, taking into account the strategic priorities and integration aspirations of Albania.
In referring to local government elections due in May 2011, Ambassador Wollfarth said: “It would be good to see an early start to the necessary administrative preparations needed for the 2011 local government elections in line with the latest OSCE/ODIHR recommendations. The OSCE Presence stands ready to provide the necessary technical expertise in such circumstances”.
Mr. Haxhinasto evaluated as important the realization of electoral reform for the implementation of the OSCE/ODIHR report recommendations.
