Tirana, January 21 NOA - Premier Berisha received the Needs and Assessment Mission of OSCE/ODIHR, which is paying a visit in Albania to assess needs for next monitoring mission of May 8 local elections.
In the meeting, the Premier welcomed the representatives of ODIHR and guaranteed them full support of the Albanian government in the fulfillment of their important mission. Highly praising the role of OSCBE and ODIHR in last elections, Premier Berisha assured the counterparts of his full and personal commitment and engagement of the government, in compliance with the role determined by law, preparations and holding of next elections, in line with highest standards of OSCE. He stressed that majority backs every possible effort for reformation and improvement of electoral process, with the contribution of OSCE, in line with the recommendations of OSCE/ODIHR Report.
The ODIHR representatives thanked Premier Berisha for the warm hospitality, support and invitation for monitoring by the Albanian government. They stressed that ODIHR has noted and estimated the progress done in the last elections in Albania, as well as expressed willingness to contribute with their assistance and presence in next elections.
In conclusion, the Premier invited ODIHR to present the widest mission possible for monitoring of the elections, as a contribution for boosting elections transparency. This invitation was highly estimated by the ODIHR mission.
