Tirana, January 31, 2011 NOA - On behalf of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee, I would like to inform the entire public opinion that: 1- The object the criminal investigation of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Albania, as already understood by all Albanian people, is totally different from the object of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee. It is a known fact that the General Prosecutor’s Office did not accept to initiate criminal investigation on massive violent acts aiming at overthrowing the constitutional order. It did not accept to initiate the criminal case for massive violent acts with the intent of taking control of the institutional buildings, aiming at taking over the power through violence, but, it has initiated criminal case only for opposition to the police orders and damage of public property. Meanwhile, the Inquiry Committee, exercising the constitutional instruments of parliamentary inquiry, is investigating the procedures of the institutions during the organized criminal activity to violate the constitutional order, to take the power through violence, and the existence of the coup d’etat. There is no, and there cannot exist, any supposition for overlapping of competences in these inquiries, completely different from one another. 2- In its activity, the Inquiry Committee has full competence, according to the law on Parliamentary Inquiry Committees, to get hold of any necessary document directly related to this investigation. The members of the committee, and its entire staff, have full right in obtaining, safeguarding and administrating any kind of inquiry document during the whole process. 3- The Parliamentary Inquiry Committee has requested from the mobile telephone companies just the tabulations, not the content of the calls, neither the content of the SMS. The Committee has only requested the record of calls, or the identification lists of the incoming and dialed calls and communications, as well as their duration, in order to make the transparency of the events. The ones who fear transparency for their interlocutors, must be aware that the light of truth with penetrate in every cell of 21 January event.
But fear from transparency is obvious.
