“The Dark Knight” – Produced by Christopher Nolan, we see a great academy award winning last performance by Heath Ledger, who plays the Joker. In this captivating thriller, Batman embarks on a journey to get rid of the criminal organizations in Gotham city but hell raises when the Joker increases the criminal activities. Truly the best movie and thriller of 2008. “Taken” – This action-thriller stars Liam Neeson, who plays retired CIA agent Bryan Mills. Mills is trying to find his daughter who is abducted in France along with her friend by Albanian slave traders while traveling through Europe. “Eagle Eye” – Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan star in this 2008 crime-thriller movie directed by D.J. Caruso. After the death of his twin brother, LaBeouf, who plays Jerry Shaw, receives an anonymous phone call and ordered to follow the instructions. He meets Rachel Holloman played by Monaghaan, who also received an anonymous phone call this time threatening to kill her son is she doesn’t comply. Both need to work out what it going on. “21” – Loosely based on the true story of the MIT Blackjack Team, this box office success starring Kevin Spacey, Lawrence Fishburne and Jim Sturgess was one of best thrillers of 2008. Sturgess, who plays Ben Campbell, must come up with his tuition fee so he will not be kicked out of MIT. Due his math genius, he is recruited to join a secretive club that use their skills to count cards in blackjack robbing casinos in Las Vegas. “Vantage Point” – Yet another movie about an assassination attempt on the President of the United States, however this one stands out. This political-crime-thriller is from the vantage point of eight strangers re-enacting the events from there perspective. Directed by Pete Travis and with a star studded cast, this movie is one of the best thrillers of 2008. “Righteous Kill” – This 2008 crime-thriller movie directed by Jon Avnet puts Robert De Nero and Al Pacino back together, this time as long-time NYPD officers in an old age tale of new verses old with tension mounting up when they partner up with a pair of younger cops to investigate a series of murders. “Lakeview Terrace” – This 2008 thriller sees a bigoted LAPD officer Abel Turner played by Samuel L. Jackson terrorizing his new next door neighbors, who happen to be an interracial couple. Produced by Will Smith, this movie is intriguing at its best. “Street Kings” – Starring Keanu Reeves as Detective Tom Ludlow. Ludlow is on the hunt to uncover the truth behind the death of his former partner and he begins to question the people he works with, uncovering some dirty cops in the process. “Changeling” – Based on a 1928 true story, this Clint Eastwood directed drama-thriller is gripping. Starring Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich and Jeffrey Donovan, “Changeling” is about a woman’s son who is missing and soon found, however she insists it’s not her son and without the support of the LAPD, she finds herself intimidated in a bid to silence her and cover up the mistake. “The Happening” – People mysteriously start acting strange and commit suicide in New York City due to a neurotoxin. Elliot Moore is a science teacher played by Mark Wahlberg. His wife and his best friend’s daughter attempt to escape using what he knows. A very strange film but it is one of the best thrillers of 2008 written, produced and directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
